Dodgers host “42” screening for local youth – May 7, 2013

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, in partnership with Major League Baseball, hosted a screening of the movie “42” for students from Jackie Robinson’s alma maters: Washington Middle School and John Muir High School. Dodger alumnus “Sweet” Lou Johnson spoke to the students prior the screening about the impact of Jackie Robinson on his life. Students at the screening were treated to popcorn and soda and received a “42” poster, interactive trivia workbook and a MLB “42” patch.

Major League Baseball and Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig, in cooperation with all 30 MLB Clubs, hosted private screenings of the film “42” for thousands of teenagers across the country and in Canada. All Clubs selected students in grades 8-12 from their respective communities to fill local theaters for the screenings.
